About Non-Medical In-Home Care
What is non-medical in-home care?
Non-medical in-home care includes services like companion care, personal care assistance, homemaker support, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation, and daily living assistance — provided in a person's own home by trained caregivers who are not licensed medical professionals. It does not include skilled nursing care, medication administration, wound care, physical therapy, or any other clinical medical services.
What is the difference between in-home care and home health care?
In-home care (also called non-medical home care or companion/homemaker care) provides daily living support without medical services. Home health care is a clinical service ordered by a physician that involves licensed nurses, therapists, or other medical professionals. Home health is typically covered by Medicare for eligible patients. Non-medical in-home care is generally paid privately or through long-term care insurance.
What does a non-medical caregiver actually do?
A non-medical caregiver can assist with personal hygiene (bathing, dressing, grooming), prepare meals, provide companionship and social engagement, perform light housekeeping and laundry, assist with transportation, offer medication reminders (not administration), and help with daily routines. They do not provide medical treatment, wound care, injections, or skilled nursing services.
Is non-medical home care regulated in Florida?
In Florida, purely non-medical companion and homemaker services (not employing or referring CNAs or licensed nurses) operate under state business and consumer protection regulations. Agencies that employ or refer CNAs or licensed nursing staff require licensing through the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). Our Services
What services does Sandy's Staffing Care Solutions provide?
We provide companion care, personal care assistance, homemaker services, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation assistance, and respite support for family caregivers. All services are non-medical and delivered in the client's own home in Broward County, Florida.
Can a caregiver help with bathing and dressing?
Yes. Personal care assistance includes help with bathing, showering, dressing, grooming, and related hygiene tasks. This support is provided respectfully and based on the client's individual preferences and routine.
Can someone help my parent get to doctor appointments?
Yes. Our transportation assistance service includes accompanied rides to medical appointments, the pharmacy, grocery stores, errands, and other outings. The caregiver travels with the client and provides support throughout the trip — not simply a drop-off.
Can a caregiver give medications?
No. Medication administration requires a licensed medical professional and is outside our scope. A caregiver can provide medication reminders — a verbal prompt that it is time to take medication — but does not handle, prepare, or administer medications.
Do you provide 24-hour care?
We can discuss overnight care and extended coverage. Contact us at (954) 795-3295 to talk through what schedule is needed and what options are available.
Can services be combined?
Yes, and this is very common. For example, a caregiver might help with morning personal hygiene, prepare breakfast, tidy the kitchen, and provide companionship throughout the morning. We build the service combination around what the client actually needs.
